Regional Identity, is the identity in which either the people or the town itself show, to reveal the regional identity.
This Doc Martin clip pacifically shows this through out all the different scenes.
During the first scene, the clothing was compared between the Doctor himself and the workers who sit below him. This shows the regional identity because it reveals the Doctor himself coming from a city with his expensive clothes and high statuses background, while the workers come from a small village due to the lack of brand new overalls with their companies logo on them. As well as the difference between the clothes, the room indicated that the house is an old fashioned countryside house, this shows that the regional identity must be the countryside due to the lack of an updated room.
Another few things which stand out as regional identity in the first scene is, when the pipe bursts. This example shows that when the pipe bursts, the Doctor makes a huge fuss of getting this to stop and becomes stressed like an stereotypical city person does, while the Father Plumber seems to continue to be occupied with eating his sandwich instead of stopping the flow. This shows that the countryside villagers are very laid back and relaxed even during stressful situations. The last point that stands out in the first scene would be the Receptionist, this is because she appears with no uniform but also an 'exotic' hairstyle. This shows that the countryside see no importance in labelling people with their work as it is an everyday job which clearly has no extreme activity in it.
The second scene also contained main points which stood out to show the regional identity. The first one would be the fact that the houses are old styled and upon a narrow path'ed slope, which are also shown to be empty. This once again shows a countryside region, due to the fact city's are more up to date and extremely busy unlike the countryside which shows only a rare amount of people walking at once and a more historic background. The audio in this clip also reveals the Diegetic sound which is known to be asynchronous due to the fact that the noise cannot be seen by the object making it. This would be the seagulls and wind. These audio sounds reveal that the countryside must be close to the seaside or cliff. Later during that scene, the police station is shown to be based inside an converted house, this shows that the countryside must have less crime rates in the region than a city, this is because the Police station is not shown in a stereotypical way, and covered in police vehicles.
